Payroll Giving

The easy and tax efficient way to make monthly donations direct from your salary

Why Choose Payroll Giving?

Payroll Giving—also known in the UK as Give As You Earn (GAYE)—lets you make regular, tax‑efficient donations to The Fertility Foundation directly from your salary. Because donations are deducted before income tax, your gift costs you less but gives more.

How It Works

If your employer offers a Payroll Giving scheme, you simply complete a donation choice form, specifying that you want to give to The Fertility Foundation. Your chosen amount is deducted from your gross pay (after National Insurance but before Income Tax) and forwarded through an HMRC-approved Payroll Giving Agency. This agency then distributes the full amount to our charity—typically within 35–60 days of receipt, in line with HMRC rules.

This means that if you pledge £10 monthly, it may only cost you £8 if you’re a basic-rate taxpayer, or £6 if you’re a higher-rate taxpayer—yet The Fertility Foundation still receives the full £10. No need for Gift Aid—your donation is already tax-efficient at source.

Benefits for You

  • Maximised impact: Your donation goes further because tax is deducted before your contribution is calculated.
  • Simple and flexible: Start, stop, or change your donation any time via your HR or payroll department.
  • No upper or lower limits: You’re free to pledge as little as £1 per week or more, depending on your preference.
  • Potential employer match: Some employers match payroll donations—doubling the impact of your gift.

Why Payroll Giving Matters to The Fertility Foundation

Payroll Giving provides reliable, predictable income that allows us to strategically plan IVF grant rounds and emotional support services. Unlike donations requiring Gift Aid processing, Payroll Giving is direct and ideal for long‑term financial planning. Charities like ours benefit from consistent donations that help fund IVF grants, counselling, and peer support across the UK.

How to Get Started

  1. Check with your HR or payroll department to see whether your employer already offers Payroll Giving.
  2. If they do, request a Payroll Giving Donation Choice Form and nominate The Fertility Foundation as your chosen charity.
  3. If your employer is not registered with an HMRC-approved Payroll Giving agency, suggest they sign up—this benefits both employees and charities.
  4. Once set up, sit back: your donation will appear each pay period, and you retain the flexibility to adjust or cancel anytime.

Transparency & Trust

The Fertility Foundation is a UK-registered charity recognised by HMRC for payroll gifts. All funds donated via payroll go directly into our fertility grant fund—supporting low-income individuals and couples to access private fertility treatment in regulated UK clinics. Our governance structure includes trustees and a medical advisory board, ensuring every donation is used ethically and effectively.

Compare with Gift Aid

Unlike Gift Aid, which requires post-donation admin and tax reclaiming, Payroll Giving delivers the full value of your pledge instantly—without additional paperwork. Higher-rate taxpayers benefit particularly, as tax relief is applied immediately at source.

Final Word

Payroll Giving is the easiest, most tax‑efficient way to help fund IVF grants. Whether you pledge £5 or £50 a month, your generosity supports real families, real lives. Join our Payroll Giving supporters today, and help make fertility treatment accessible to more people across the UK.
